Theme Park DS! "IT GUARANTEES PLEASURE!"
A have revealed some shots of the upcoming Theme Park simulator for DS, bringing back the classic franchise for a chance to build and run an amusement park on the move.
The game is based on the 1999 classic from EA, Theme Park World, where players would design their own parks complete with various different attractions, food and more - the aim building and maintaining a succesful park, keeping customers happy and coming back for more.
so, EA...microtransactions - have to buy rides with points, you get real world fines if peopel sustain injuries in your park? what will they think of...
This is excellent news. I've been hoping they would drop Theme Park or Theme Hospital on the DS since I first saw one. Man, same of the comments at the linked site are painful, though.

Please tell this is for the GBA cause im not really buying thats for the DS.
I think there may be something wrong with me, because I actually understood that without having to slow down or reread it.[/quote]
Looks awesome. Never tried the original Theme Park World, but hopefully it's as good as Rollercoaster Tycoon.
The only other theme park sort of game on the DS is Zoo Tycoon... though this game might be better.

When I first heard this I was excited, but then I remembered when I re-installed TP a few years back. After playing Rollercoaster Tycoon I really don't think TP ages well at all. I can't see myself buying this unfortunately
I sure hope they do this right, followed by Theme Hospital.
That said this seems the topic to ask, any info on a Sim City DS launch outside of Japan? It is supposed to be out on Japan this winter, but I haven´t found any info other than the announcement.
Holy crap, must buy. I played this on Genesis so much. Now I feel bad for buying Zoo Tycoon DS. It wasn't a terrible game, but it was quite buggy and much less fun than Theme Park ever was.

man, the DS needs more tycoon games, i'm a zoo tycoon nut and loved the DS version, and this is right up my alley as well, i honestly think the controls are very forthcomming for these types of games.
Plus this game didn't have a big emphasis on coasters and building them. Most rides were just buildings you placed and let them do their thing, adjusting speed/capacity/price and repairing when they started smoking. You could build coasters and slides, but you had limited pieces to work with and they took up more space than they were worth.

Earlier I was trying to explain this in a post but gave up, well done.
The coasters aren't the be all end all, it's more about tactical placement of normal rides and of course, spiking the coffee with extra caffeine.

the only problem I had with Theme Park was I would build huge parks and no one would visit the rides in the back for some reason.
On the Genesis one I gave Hook-a-Duck a 100% chance of winning a prize, gave out the cheapest prizes and charged the maximum amount. It broke the game because it was still really popular, the little advice clown kept coming up saying "I think you should raise the price of your Hook-a-Duck by $476" even though it was at max. And it screwed me in the end because the little people had no money left to spend at the park so they just went around complaining.
EDIT: Yeah, this game had pathing problems too. I'd get four or five grounds workers and then notice my paths were covered with trash, only to find the jackasses combing the same streets over and over in the corner. :x I got so mad at those guys.

No no, it was about making the french fries really salty and putting the most ice in the soda.

I always had at least one dedicated to the problem areas, near food shops and rides that people pucked after, besides the others without a work area defined.
Oh and cheap fries with lots of salt for cheap close to abusively priced soda FTW...
edit: Damn you fireside for beating me on the salty fries...

I never figured out how to/if you can own multiple parks. I want to build a world-crushing empire.
I'll probably end up with this.
I think, based on the screenshots, its a new game, heavilly influenced by the origional, and with some assets taken directly from the origional.
Almost a remake of the orgional.

Yay Theme Park..
Edit: Dinopark Tycoon, plz.

I loved the crap out of Theme Park and always saw it as vastly superior to the Rollercoaster Tycoon series.
Man, this is fantastic news.

But I still loved it and I will still love this.

Anyway. Looks interesting, but the visuals are... less than inspiring.
