Question re: buying old games
citizen059hello my name is citizenI'm from the InternetRegistered Userregular
I'm having a bit of a problem - a coworker is looking for a decent rally racing game for his Xbox 360. My first recommendation was to track down a copy of Richard Burns Rally, which came out for the original Xbox and is compatible according to numerous youtube vids of people playing it on their 360.
Here's my issue - I don't own a console, thus don't buy games for them. So after making the recommendation, it hit me that I have no idea where one would find a copy of RBR.
Amazon UK lists it, but is it region coded? Amazon US has nothing, Ebay has nothing...outside of those three I'm blank.
Are there any other sites out there that deal in old/hard to find console games? Seeing as how my brother recently picked up a 360 and is catching up on a few years worth of missed games, the knowledge might come in handy later on.
Well, a quick perusal of GameFAQs says that unless he has a UK Xbox, it doesn't matter because RBR never came out in the US, which is probably why you're having a hard time finding it. AFAIK, oxbox games were region coded, and I think you'd have to deal with NTSC/PAL issues anyways.
That being said, yes, eBay and Amazon are generally where you have to go for old games. you can try Gamestop/GAME, but I'd never buy a used game online, since I'm picky about condition.
If it has to be oxbox, I thought Colin McRae Rally 3 was supposed to be pretty good. No idea if it's backcompat though. Otherwise, allow me to third Dirt. You should be able to get it for pretty cheap these days, and while not as good as the PS3 version, it's still definitely worth it.
