So i was "gifted" a decent 5.1 audio system. the kind that uses three 3.5mm adapters to drive the five.
I'm using a 24" imac, latest model.
is my only option for 5.1 to use a USB sound card? i mean, really?

edit: it probably has optical out, but that won't help you with ancient speaker technology.
