Egads! We have another "what was this movie?" Thread. Madness!
I watched this movie when I was a kid, and it was about this guy that got his space ship shot down on to this planet (Mars? I think), and all I remember of this movie was that there was a dogfight in space, and when he was shot down, there was this scene with a creature that was this pit and it swallowed up something (can't remember). The other thing I remember was the main character finding this turtle, befriending it, and when they encountered the pit monster (?) he saved it from that.
Sorry I couldn't give more info, it has been a long time, and I've only seen it once. I think it came out late 80's, but I'm not sure.
