Dealing with Distractions

I've been lazy (once again) and left a large chunk of my course work until the last week. Normally I wouldn't have much of a problem getting it all in to an ok standard, however this time I have a massive distraction; A new girl in my life.

I sit down to start working, but my mind wonders far too quickly and the topic is her. I can't really concentrate on anything for more than say 20 mins. Normally I would embrace this feeling and sit around looking dumb and love-struck... but I don't have that option as time is quickly running out.

Help?

You're just going to have to work through it. Priorities are key in getting through a lot of shit in life. Get them straight. If they were in the beginning all of your work wouldn't have been left to the last week. It seems like you've dug your own grave. Now you've come on to Penny-Arcade to distract yourself from work and start making posts. Get to work man.

Suck it the fuck up. Block her out for a week, even tell her that you need to if you must. Your work is MORE IMPORTANT. Emphasise this to yourself. Girls come and go, a coursework mark stays the same for the rest of your life.

DON'T set a date with her after the week you need to do it in, because you'll just end up thinking about that instead.

That's a horrible philosophy. Coursework has fleeting value and will likely be all but worthless five or ten years for now but a girl can be a priceless, lifelong companion.

Balance is the secret to a successful life.

If she can't take being left alone for a week, she isn't good long term relationship material.

You may well be right, Szech; but my 'leave her the fuck alone' suggestion still stands.
