So I put off doing a bunch of work for my Yearbook class until the last minute and now Photoshop is being a filthy, filthy whore. I was working on this assignment, if you can call it that, in class on Friday and noticed that I couldn't apply well over half of the filters in the filters menu, but the computer I was on had just been set up in the class that day so I wrote it off as missing plugins or something to that effect. I took what I had gotten done in class home on a thumbdrive and now notice that it's the same issue on my computer aswell, and now any new image I make in photoshop suffers the same fate. Either I just went retarded and forgot to do something, or some preset has been changed and I have no idea what the hell that would be. I know this is a pretty vague description of the problem, but it's the best I know how to give. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Check the colour mode. Most of the filters in Photoshop will only work in RGB mode and will be locked out in CMYK mode. Switch to RGB to apply the effects. You can get a better idea of how it's going to look in CMYK by switching the preview mode to CMYK. Once the job is done, switch the colour mode back to CMYK and save a copy for print.
