I have a lovely new LCD monitor from Dell that comes with a stand that swivels and pivots every which way. Unfortunately, I seem to have got the bastard stuck somehow. That is to say, along the vertical axis upon which it runs, the monitor remains stubbornly at the bottom and won't ascend. It was moving perfectly fine beforehand.
I've tried forcing it upwards again, but with no luck. I can't take a screwdriver to it either, since there's no screws on the section that moves. I don't want to be too forceful in case I break it, but neither do I want a Dell-man coming around and fixing it in five seconds and glaring at me..
Has anyone else got a similar Dell monitor? (1907FP) .. and got theirs stuck?
I have a different unit (2005FPW), so I don't know if the stand is the same or not. On mine, when you drop the vertical down as far as it can go it locks into place. There's a round button at the back of the unit, near the bottom, in the center of the stand. I have to push that button pretty hard to get the thing to unlock, but once I do the screen moves up and down pretty freely. Is there any lock button like that on yours?
I thought that was it then; so I took the monitor off the stand to have a proper go at it.. and realised the round button is actually on the monitor itself, which doesn't do me much good in moving the stand. All that button does on mine is loosen the clasps that hold the monitor to the stand. Thank you anyway.
Yeah, mine's definitely different then. It has the release button on the monitor itself, like yours, but there's also the lock button on the base of the stand. I know the newer Dell monitors have a newer looking stand, I guess the differences are more than just cosmetic. I don't mean this to be insulting, but have you looked at the documentation for the monitor and/or its stand? It should have handy diagrams on how to unlock it, assuming it is locked as opposed to jammed. If you don't see any instructions for unlocking it, then I'd say you should call Dell and say "Hey, my stand is stuck, what gives?"
That is really stiff.. Fixed. I do have a tiny button there also, but it requires an arcane sequence of pulls and pushes. I can feel it getting less stiff now I'm doing it back and forth now. Thanks for the help! Saved me an annoying phone-call to Delhi. Now I can go back to occasionally using it vertically for forums, which feels very futuristic.
