    I'd give a lot for a legit shiny adamant beldum/metang/metagross with this method. Metagross is one of my favorite pokemon, and it looks even better as a shiny.

    Isn't it a sort of IV control method? Could it also be used to get hidden power somewhat more easily?

    You could try, but it's hard to get results for natures in the RNG calculator. I can't imagine how hard it'll be to get results for IVs. Sometimes you don't even get results if you get greedy.

    You can soft reset on the egg though, so with an everstone ditto getting the nature you want is easy.

    Nature/Gender/Ability/(and shininess) are set when the egg is made, and IVs are set when the egg is picked up, I thought? Hence why people can save, pick up an egg, and if it's the right nature/ability/gender, keep soft-resetting until they get the IVs they want?

    Does it? I thought nature was determined then as well.

    It's still a 50% chance, and when you do have the right nature you can reset to infinity.

    You can choose the nature with the RNG calculator. So an everstone isn't helpful.

    Nature/etc is set when the Daycare Guy faces to the right to let you know there's an egg there. As in, when the egg is formed.

    IVs are set when you actually pick the egg up, which is why softresetting works. Nature is not, and has never been set at this point, as far as I know. This is why people softreset over and over when hatching an egg once they know it has the right nature/ability/(possibly gender grr nidoqueen).

    As far as I could make out from that shiny-hatching thing, you punch all the stuff into an app, and it tells you how many clicks on the happiness/coin toss app you need to do in order to force a Shiny egg with the right nature/ability to turn up, then softreset on that egg until you get the IVs you want, is that right?

    Yeah, that's right. I've been soft-resetting since yesterday but I haven't been able to get an HP IV of more than 16.

    Any sort of guildlines for the battle? Should I use OU, UU, what? I have no trained legends, so...

    It's okay I only just got back.

    Just normal rules, no legends, garchomp etc. Gotta try out the guy I trained up yesterday although I have a feeling it will end in a mess of bad prediction. Actually I've got two new guys! Excitement.

    Yeah, you had some great luck with Focus Blast there. I don't think I have EVER used Focus Blast and seen it hit. Just ask Chen!

    But its not really clear what kind of hacks it detects.

    Well I got a Rayquaza off GTS and I was kind of suspicious since it only had two skills, but the video with him in it uploaded to the internets fine. Maybe the other two skills where HMs?

    From what I read (and what I've observed, I passed the info on to Ashton), the hack-detection on video uploads catches Pokemon with more than 510 total EVs, Pokemon with illegal moves (be they egg-moves on a caught Pokemon like I saw, or moves that they just can't have, like Ice Beam on Gengar).

    So that video of BlueBlue versus whatevertheguy's called with the Seismic Toss Blissey in a Heal Ball and the Gengar with 255 EVs in each stat wouldn't have uploaded.

    Thanks for the info guys. I just hate not knowing if they are real or not, GTS is depressing.

    All thats left I think is to see a Latios and get one off the GTS and I'll be set for HGSS for the most part. Doubtful that theres any legit Jirachis on there so... and oh god, what is wrong with that thing! It's got a giant eye on its stomach!

    I can give you a Jirachi if you want, its legit.
    For things like Latios and Rayquaza I don't think you need to be as concerned about their legitimacy, thanks to the Emerald cloning trick. There isn't any real need to hack Emerald legends.

    Huh. Do I want to fight, or not. I can't decide. I did get pretty much pasted earlier, I need to work out some guys that actually work well together as a team.

    Question: Cacturne with Sand Veil. It's Grass/Dark, but I heard that it doesn't take Sandstorm damage? Does Sand Veil actually negate the sandstorm damage, then?

    Sand Veil pokes take no damage from sandstorm regardless of type.

    Also if you're referring to our battle I wouldn't say you got pasted, I only had one guy left.

    Yep, Sand Veil negates Sandstorm damage.

    Okay! I'll note down the number of the battle I had with rami too, so you can see just how pasted I got.

    My DS is downstairs, however. I shall go fetch it.

    Any informal rules, Ink? Feel like a mostly UU battle, or are we bringing out the BIG GUNS?
