It's pretty cool. I just started really getting into it. If you spend a lot of time seeding artists and songs that you really like, picking very specific ones, you'll end up finding a lot of new music that you didn't know existed, that's just as awesome.
Wee! If you find a station of someone elses that you like you can listen to it and as soon as you give any songs that thumbs up or thumbs down it becomes yours, so you can edit the seeds and add more as you please.

Well, I'm listening to your Ska station now, so :^:
For some reason I thought this thread was going to be about the soundtrack Amon Tobin composed for Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, but then I reread the thread title and realized how incredibly dull I am.

Naporeon showed me a cool way to look for songs with certain attributes that you might not be familiar with for adding to stations or creating new ones with certain features. Check it out:
1. Go to this page and find some attributes you want to build a station on: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Music_Genome_Project_attributes
2. After you've got two or three, go do the following Google search: site:pandora.com inurl:song "[ATTRIBUTE 1]" "ATTRIBUTE TWO"
It's super useful if you want something specific, like hip-hop with political lyrics and a West Coast sound, or a song with "affected synths" and "extensive vamping".

Pandora still needs a "Never, ever play this artist again!" function. John Mayer and Dave Matthews are not welcome in my R&B channel.
Or any channel for that matter.
Two thumbs down on an artist is supposed to ban them from the station, but it doesn't always seem to work out. It seems that they'll still play songs with downward thumbs if my stations are getting too specific, which hasn't happened in a while.

I tend to seed random things in hopes that it will bring success.
The best one so far has been 'The Classic Crime'

Well fuck
Before someone starts yelling about the damn RIAA nothing has changed as far as last.fm's paying for stuff
They just don't make enough off ads to be able to support it for free in some places, including Canuckland
I'm at a loss as to why we keep getting shorthanded here.
Or any channel for that matter.
well last.fm is really just because they can't afford to do it for free up there
They're simply not making enough off of ads
But anyway, I stopped using it like a week after I made that thread anyway
hello
No I don't like Tool and Trivium. Stop playing this shit.
