Weird 360 error

Hey, my buddy at work is having a funky 360 problem. Any of you guys ever seen this?

1) He is not connected to Live at all (in the chance it matters).
2) It plays DVDs just fine.
3) When he puts a game in it seems to refuse to load - no error message, just a black screen.

    Have him take the HDD out and put it back in? Does he have the NXE update?

    He does not have NXE - it's not hooked up to Live at all. I'll recommend the HDD thing though.

    I assume he means any game? If so, try clearing the HDD cache if the reseat doesn't work.

    Yeah, it's any game. He hasn't tried booting straight to the dash either. If he can, how does he clear the HDD cache?
