Is there some program that lets you use function keys to use other keys as a number pad on a laptop?

I assume you're using Windows... if not, ignore.

I also assume you need a program so you can quickly change the mappings rather than doing it once and forgetting about it? If you only need to do it once, a simple registry tweak will handle this for you.

It's a bit old, but the ways of remapping still work.

Yeah, it's a Windows Vista machine. And I'm looking for something like the functionality you get with some computers where you hit Fn + NumLock and get a bunch of keys to act as a number pad.

Not exactly free but a much better option than remapping keys via software or trying to use the out of shape Fn+Whatever keypad if you have one: get an external 10-key keypad.

I definitely just spent 20$ at radioshack and bought an external keypad for my laptop. It's much easier and I just keep it in my case.

Yeah, this is for my roommate. My suggestion was a number pad, but he doesn't want to do that.
