I have a gateway laptop that I'm wanting to expand from 2GB to 4GB. The memory currently in it is PC5300 DDR2 667MHZ. The best deal I've found is from tiger direct here, except it's listed as 5400. According to wikipedia, 5300 and 5400 are the same thing. Is this true?
Also, my laptop has an incredibly annoying gateway popup that comes up infirefox every time my laptop is turned on telling me that my hard drive will fail and wanting me to buy an online backup service. I've dug around my machine trying to get rid of it without success. Any suggestions?
DDR2 memory that is at a higher speed than your system runs at (e.g. 667 vs 800 MHz) will run at the highest possible speed, even if it is lower than what the memory is rated for. If you have mixed memory installed it runs at the speed of the lowest speed memory installed.

For the pop-ups use this: http://www.pcdecrapifier.com/
Or just look for anything like gateway backup in add/remove programs.
