On friday, I begin my trek to england to study abroad for 5 weeks. I have a 1000HE netbook, and an iPhone. The iPhone is jailbroken, and I've heard that I can use prepaid SIM cards to make local calls and such. I also know that England has different power than the US, but apparently the brick on the 1000HE power cord automatically converts the power, if I just get the right plug? Is that correct? Someone assist me in this! I am lost and confused.

all of this is true. your power brick should have a voltage range on it, and if it covers 220v then you are good. you can grab a plug adapter anywhere. SIM cards can also be bought anywhere.

if your laptop brick thing converts then you just need a plug thing for your laptop, though I'd tripple check with the manufacturer before you plug it in.
You can pick up a sim card with a tenner's worth of credit from any phone shop while you're in the UK. That will give you a number and if you're iphone is jailbroken it should work ok. Obviously for charging your iphone you'll need to get a convertor to get it to the right power amount (I know the US is different, I just can't remember what the difference is).
For the Mac, check the specs on the side of your power adapter and make sure it's for 100-240V (I have no idea if there are any that aren't, but it's good to check and make sure).

It has a bunch of stuff you don't need, but it's nice to have if you do more traveling.
I don't have a Mac. Just a netbook and an iPhone. The phone charges nicely through the netbook as well, so I should be good for that.
Ah, gotcha. I think I misread something. Anyway, the basics still apply. Check your power brick to make sure it handles the correct voltage, and if it does you just need the correct outlet adapter.
