So as some of you may know, theres a new alien game coming out. Its called Colonial Marines
Its made by
Gearbox Software and looks very promising. But you know whats even better?
AVP3!
No, not the sequel to the incredibly disappointing movie adaptations (although there is a 3rd one coming) but the sequel to one of the greatest games of all times! AVP2!
And for those of you who havent played this amazing game that was AVP2, heres some basic info :
The game had 3 campaigns, one for each race.
There was one for the shitty
marines, which was extremely stressing oh god the motion sensor found something shit its right in front of me but I cant see it FUUCK ITS ON THE CEILING
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-
Then there was the
predator campaign where you were basically invincible. You had nets, guns, the fucking disc that instantly killed anything on the screen, you could turn invisible, heal yourself at the cost of energy, and regenerate your energy for free at all time.
That disc destroyed entire solar systems
And finally, there was the
alien campaign. It was the best of the 3, you started as a facehugger, found a host, and evolved until you became the ultimate killing machine. You were as fast as a fucking cheetah on crack, could jump pretty damn far and walk on walls or ceilings.
The multiplayer was really the best part though. You could play as 1 of the 3 ''factions'' and then choose between different classes with their own strenghts and weaknesses. The marines had different soldiers specializing in different weapons, the predator had a light and heavier version, along with the regular, and the aliens had the quick runner, the heavy praetorian guard, who lost its ability to jump far away or walk on walls, but gained the ability to be a
walking bunker, and the regular drone. If you were lucky enough, you could also get a predalien,
which is a predator combined with an alien duh, and if you killed a lot of people, you could evolve into a queen. Needless to say, when such thing happened, everybody else cried and prayed for the mercy of a quick death.
Where is this all going? Oh, yeah
AVP3!
Like I mentionned at the beginning of this amazing OP, Rebellion is doing a sequel. And so far it looks great.
And heres some interesting info about whats going to be different from the previous games:
-Predators are now a lot more similar to the ones in the movies. Stealthier and very agile, you can now easily jump from tree to tree. You just have to target a branch or something and the game does the acrobatics for you!
-Predators have finishing moves, where they simply claim their trophies from their victims. Rip the heads off your enemies!
-Aliens have been slowed down, but they're still fast as fuck.
Heres a video of Rebellion doing tests to see if the new, slower Alien works as expected:
Yup, much slower
-Aliens have finishing moves, too! Impale your preys Steve Irwin style with your tail and let them know you're pissed off
TOO SOON?
-Marines now have to switch between the motion sensor and the bigger weapons in the game.
OH SHIT
So yeah, thats it. Talk about it.
Oh, and also

And you thought wrong, longbaugh
Its gonna be like hidden night just with more screaming
dogg
also whatever faults Brothers in Arms has, it IS really cinematic and atmospheric, and that's damn important for this game, so at least Gearbox has that down
I do not have the expansion so
Hope thats cool
Its going to be way better than colonial marines
I dont think I have it either so thats okay
And they shall know no fear...
beep
beepbeep
beepbeepbeeep
AVP3 and Colonial Marines is not the same game?
No, its two different games
AVP3 is made by Rebellion and Colonial Marines is made by Gearbox
In colonial marines there are no predators and you can only play as a marine.
In AVP3 you can play with whoever you want :winky:
So if one of them doesnt make the game properly, we just have to hope the other one will
Nope, sega got the rights to make two aliens games, they canned the RPG but gearbox is still working on Colonial marines.
Apparently someone else got fox to give them the rights to make a new AVP game.
both by decent studios
oh shi-
I prefer hoping that both of them are good.
It's win win.
Might have to use Hamachi, so be prepared.
to meta: I'll play tomorrow, and I'm pretty sure the servers are still up. I tried not so long ago on the multiplayer demo
I never finished it.
I had really literally forgotten about that movie 100%
like forgotten it had even been made and existed
you son of a bitch I was happier that way
WHAT?!
AVP was basically my first computer game after diablo and starcraft and lemmings and parrot
edit: gonna watch my quadrilogy set and then predator over the next few days
the only alien movie to include romance
alien 3 is not that bad
resurrection would have been good if it didn't try to be a hollywood movie
the predator movies are good for what they are
now ya'll can't argue about anything!
it was a multi leveled map i swing, behead a human on the bottom floor, crouch jump up to the level above, do a 180 while in the air, land with an alien staring straight at me, speared him in the face as well.
Burn it before it reproduces!
Mine was probably when I played as an alien. Was fun to jump across the map and land on your victim
I always thought that captured the feel of aliens pretty well.
I never played AVP2 online was it good as well? I don't think it'll run on vista though.
Try the multiplayer demo. If it works you should get a pretty good idea of how fun it is.
Fuck Jetpacks
multiplayer was fantastic though, pretty sure I still have avp2 installed
