I've been trying to solve this issue for over a week and have had no luck.
Basically, some websites display their all their text italicized on my home PC. It's not consistent across all sites(PA looks normal) and I really didn't notice it until Wikipedia came up all in italics. I spent a few days messing with browser settings, eventually completely uninstalling Firefox, deleting my profile and reinstalling. Not any luck there.
Yesterday, I noticed that some elements of Windows were oddly italicized as well. The most obvious was the songs listed in my Winamp playlist. So, again, I fiddled around with Windows themes, and the appearance panel for quite some time, and tried defaulting back to the default windows theme, but still have had no luck.
At this point I have no idea what the hell setting could have been modified that I can't seem to get too, and google has been unhelpful. The only thing that has been modified on my PC recently is that I installed Planescape: Torment.
If I were to take a wild guess, I'd imagine one of your fonts was replaced with it's italicized equivilent. Look through you :\WINDOWS\FONTS folder and see if any are mislabled.
I had this problem several months ago, only instead of italicized, it was boldface.
The culprit was using windowsXP disk cleanup...
specifically one of the 'space saving' options: compress old files.
Compressed files show up in blue text when using windows explorer.
As it turned out, many of my font files in the windows->fonts folder were compressed.
For some reason, when my fonts were compressed they appeared in my windows browsers/programs as bold.
I would suggest checking your fonts folder, uncompressing any compressed (blue) font files, rebooting, and checking to see if that solves your problem.
