New Rocket Knight Adventure coming, Climax develops

elkataselkatas Registered User regular
edited May 2009 in Games and Technology
German Maniac gaming site has revealed on its site that Climax (Silent Hill: Origins, Shattered Memories) is developing new Rocket Knight Adventure. While site doesn't tell for which platforms the game will be, we do know Climax still has one unannounced PS3 / X360 and one Wii / PSP project. I would guess Wii / PSP combination is more likely considering the target audience.

EDIT: It must be for Wii / PSP, as PS3 / X360 project is new IP.

    Hmmm. Very cool! I hope it's old-school 2D.

Probably not, considering that 2D is relatively expensive, and this is most definitely niche project.

Konami, please quit putting all of your eggs in Climax's basket. They weren't lucky with the Origins port. They might be possibly lucky with Shattered Memories. Let's not even bring up Sudeki. Is it really wise to give them Rocket Knight Adventure as well?

Yeah I really don't understand the hard on Konami seems to have for Climax these days. They really haven't had a good track record.

But perhaps they just have good working relations with Konami? Lot of companies outsource their projects to TOSE because their attitude and sheer professionalism.

Seriously, Climax really only has Origins which was decent at best and a travesty to SH at worst. Shattered Memories could be good, but that remains to be seen. Everything outside of those two games though have been pretty bad.

True, I hope that the gameplay is at least in the same vein as the older titles. Someone mentioned Klonoa, that seems like a smart road to go down.

TOSE also makes lot of shit. There is also fair chance that this project is only happening because Climax pitched it to Konami. It is usually good sign, because company tends to respect project very differently when it wasn't force-fed to them.

TOSE also makes shit games. It's odd, but TOSE's general quality level depends on who manages them.

At any rate, Rocket Knight. Man, I hope they can recapture the Treasure magic of the first game. The sequels on the Genesis and SNES weren't nearly as fun.

Same was with Wayforward, and see how Contra 4 turned out in the end. Hell, they were even responsible for lowest rated DS game of all time. :)

Wait a second. Contra is also owned by Konami! Konami may be on to something here. Hire the worst possible companies and turn them into companies that make gold. If Akklaim was still around then maybe.... no I guess they'd still be shit.

I was just wishing for a Sparkster Rebirth the other day, what with all the stuff Konami's been putting on the downloadable platform as of late.

I'm not fond of Climax, but I hope they redeem themselves.

This could work out well enough, and the very first game certainly had a fair bit going for it.

Milon, as in Milon's Secret Castle? Holy fucking jesus was that game ever hard. Actually, all those you listed are hard (except Karnov, I haven't played it but since it's an NES game I'd assume it is) and totally awesome. Hopefully they are allowed to do these things and that they do them well.

edit: Oh god, he also mentioned The Guardian Legend! These dudes are awesome. :D

Eh; Karnov being on that list just makes me suspect there's a bit too much name-dropping going on there for street cred. However, E.V.O. was a damn fine game, so I'm willing to let WayForward off with a wag of the finger.

A new RKA will have to royally suck for me not to buy it. I played the original to death. One of my top five Genesis games ever.

If nothing else, this had better get us the original on the VC.

If Wayforward developed a new Shantae game for DSiWare I'd buy that system in a heartbeat.

1 or 2 players? In the second game, I think Player 2 became a bad guy. Which pissed off my brother because at the time he would not play anything single player.
