Kas, great job, just watched the second set. If I was doing this, I'd get too addicted and post, like, the entire game in one night.

He also seems to have a problem with child abuse... in Beautiful Katamari, if you fail a Katamari he puts you on a pool table and slams you into the walls with pool balls. I think in the first one he throws lightning bolts at you.

In Me and My Katamari, he ties you up by a string and throws boxing gloves at you. You can dodge them, but I have to wonder if you get something special for avoiding all (if there is an end) of them

That, and he catapults you into his crotch when sending you down to Earth.

Glad you like it! I hope I can do alright with commentary, I feel like sometimes I'm just basically out of things to say and go "oh, a dog, now a cat, now an egg, now some handcuffs, now a soy sauce bottle.."

Also, I changed the way I render so hopefully there should no more intense interlacing. God, that was awful.

And on the side, I'm considering stopping posting LPs after I finish Katamari -- I feel like we might have too many going on on the forums here. What do you guys think? I kind of feel bad since I've done so many mediocre games now..

I don't think you should give up. If theres so many now, it might mean people are just enjoying them more (Making a LP looks like alot of fun, if not a little challenging.)

It's a lot of fun, not too challenging. I just wish rendering them didn't take so long for me, along with editing volumes and stuff. I'd be able to pump out tons and tons of LPs if that were the case. I think the best part is entertaining people and meeting new folks to talk (I've met a lot of cool people on Youtube from making these), and it also encourages me to play through my backlog.

Great LP. Very entertaining, and it's kind of neat how the relaxing, zenlike quality of the game comes across even when I'm not actually playing it. I can already feel the e-rage draining away.


Two comments, though:

1. You did comment on this in the first set, but you really need to get the hang of using the quick-turn/turbo-charge more often. They're really handy, especially the turbo-charge for grabbing long lines of items. Whenever you slooooowly turn around manually I cringe a little, I have to admit.

2. The angels flying around you at the end of one of the levels in set 2 was you meeting the size requirement for that level to unlock Eternal/Forever/somethingimplyinginfinity Mode. There's two other levels that have that mode available (the last "roll around town" and Make the Moon), unlocked when you get something like 33-50% above the size requirement, and it allows you to play that level without a time limit.

I was going to ask you why at 3:45 in the third video you didn't take his rook with your rook, placing his king in check and forcing him to move it to the left, allowing you to take his queen with impunity. Then I realized that although he would have to move his king out the way, he could have moved it diagonally, placing his queen under the protection of the rook and more or less yielding the same result, unless you decided to pull your queen back out. If you pulled out, this would leave his rook in an easily developed position, and I'm not sure whether you would have the control available to get it pinned back down with his queen still free. Still, you would have given him an opportunity to make a mistake, without placing much additional risk on your pieces, beyond possibly allowing him to develop the rook a turn earlier now that his king is out of the way.

I really should plot this endgame out starting from that position to see what would have happened if you did that, but I'm too lazy.

I bought the first two volumes of the original manga after watching your LP and I don't understand why Hyakki even has non-lethal battles in the game since he kills everyone in the book so far. Also Dororo gets beaten to near death by villagers every chapter. What a horribly depressing series. The game seems much more cheery.


Enjoyed the chess match strangely enough. Here's hoping to a checkers rematch.

There's two problems with streaming -- RE5 is widescreen forced, so in the 4:3 ratio it gets shrunk down and all the sites I know are 4:3..

and Mogulus' quality is super limiting now if you're not a paying member

(that's ok, I plan on doing a lets play of mirrors edge as a completely dry run so you'll get plenty of amusement about my failures... I just need to figure out how to record and play at the same time with out fraps giving my system the middle finger....)

So, a couple things, since I've caught up on this.

1) Awesome. Never played the Katamari games (I know, heresy) and I'm enjoying the heck out of seeing this one played.

2) About finding your buddy in Home. There's actually separate (duplicate more appropriate?) servers or somesuch for every area so that you don't have a whole bunch of people trying to get crammed in the same space. So he was probably in a different Mall than you were, which also explains why it had to reload.

3) I think there's actually a Checkers board in one of the different Regions of Home. The whole of it is supported differently in every region, so they all have different spaces (Not all of them are different, but there's variety). Can't think of any differences outside of minor things (One of the spaces in the Japan Home had Snow during the Winter), but I'm sure there's something glaring.

I could be wrong about that of course, since I didn't research it at all, I just kinda grabbed things I think I remember. But eh, it's Home.

I'm wondering what the videos for some of the stages will be like, namely the

"Roll up the biggest thing" bonus-type constellation levels. One is cows, I know that; and that one made me throw my controller across the room because of how much insignificant bullshit was counted as a cow. Cows, yes; cow calves, yes; but fucking traffic cones with cow spots on them count as cows and end the level immediately?! I never got through that level without accidentally hitting one of those fucking traffic cones early- I never actually got a cow.

Miniature cow statues did it to me every time. It might have been bears. But whatever, it sucked.

I also suck at the level where you have to guess at the size of the katamari. I screw it up every time.
