Alcohol Stress Girlfriend [no wall of text!]

Here's the situation:

When I drink with my family at home, I'm fine.

When I drink with my friends slowly at home, I'm fine.

When I drink with my girlfriend and our group of friends at school, I have some problems. I used to be a beer bong champ, but now if I take even 1 I'll immediately feel like throwing up, make an excuse, go to the bathroom, and puke my dinner and beer out... and after that I can drink again.

It's not a really normal throwing up urge either, its like stress, anxiety and a tight stomach all put into one.

AND HERES WHERE IT GETS WIERD

I get this same feeling sometimes in a situation where i'm in bed with my girlfriend when she asks me something sexual like: "what do you want to do with me..." meant as foreplay, but for some reason, it makes me feel anxious... (Generally worse when I eat before hand)

Anyways, H/A I request your advice!

Maybe you're just a nervous person. I used to have similar sick/icky feelings too around certain people who I was socially comfortable/involved with... not with alcohol, but with consumption in general. Whereas people I just knew as acquaintances and perhaps even disliked I would not get the same reactions.

I would certainly investigate a stress component, the fact that it only happens with her would suggest a psychological component.

I wish I could give you the answer, but I still don't know why it happens to me.

Maybe try something other than beer... try a clear liquor and see what happens...

Have you felt that feeling before? It might be a form of IBS (which I've had and seems to crop up at the strangest times...) and, while its a blanket term, its usually cased by severe stress (girl friends can provide that whether they try to or not). You can read about it here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irritable_bowel_syndrome and you might want to ask a doctor about it if you think you may have it.

Yeah Napp, when I had this problem at first (at least, when it became a major nuisance), I saw a doctor and they came up with the same diagnosis. They give you a pretty spiffy pill to help, but I have found that it's not really 100% effective. In fact, it's 50% effective at best.

The thing is though, he's vomiting.. I don't think that's part of IBS.

Neither did i, but it is listed on wiki's page.

edit: actually, it seems that I miss read it, and that IBS can be caused by and illness with the symptom of vomiting.

So... take that as you will lol.

(those pills i think, helped me in the "mind over matter" aspect of the problem. I used those pills on about 4 occasions and never had to use them again. *crosses fingers*)

(I'm not a doctor, blah blah blah) but it sounds a little like an acid problem. Stress and anxiety can (I think) increase production of stomach acid, which can lead to ulcers and indigestion. The acidity in the beer might exacerbate the problem, especially if it's lots of cold beer in large quantities.

Sooooo it's something to consider. Could do with a trip to the doctor to talk about an antacid.
