Uncomfortable Sandals

I have a question that I'm having difficulty formulating into a google search. So hopefully you will know the answer instead. I recently bought some new flip-flops and they are pretty nice except that they rub against the top of my feet while moving. This gets pretty unbearable pretty quickly and has stopped me from wearing them out side of the house, which was kind of the point of them. Does anyone have any ideas on how I could make the straps a little less abrasive.

The straps are canvas-y like this although the base is very different.

Sorry for the most mundane question ever.

I would go to a fabric store and find some comfy fabric to sew onto the undersides of the straps.

    moleskin

it's basically a very soft cotton fabric with a sticky back. it's great to use on shoes that rub

If they are new, you might just need to break them in. A lot of untreated material (if that is what this is) will be very rough early on.

Maybe wear them with socks for a while?

You can buy gel strips which are sticky on one side especially designed for sandals (okay, well, they're designed for women's 'strappy' sandals but regardless). I'm sure you can pick them up in any drug store or in a superstore amongst the ladies' shoes.
