The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
I posted this in Games/Tech but I didn't get much help. I suppose that forum is more for the software/news side of gaming. Sorry for double-threading.
I would really like to gain and expand upon the basic knowledge of electronic modding. You know, cutting at cases, adding LCDs, turning my Xbox360 into a Transformer, and those sorts of things. Can anyone give me advice as to where to begin? I think I should probably start small and not jump right into my 360. I am a hands-on type of learner, so doing is learning for me.
Where should I start? Read a book? NES? Xbox360 controller? If anyone has any goals/job ideas for me to get started, it would be greatly appreciated.
I suppose my question is how does one go from playing video games to having a really kick-ass looking 360. If it is possible to replace all instances of the word "360" with "PC" then that would also be good advice.
Don't try to mess around with the guts of the system until you know what does what, trying to add LEDs to the existing power lines could end up giving you a dead Xbox.
Do I need a rotary tool or oscillating tool for precise cuts to cases? I would also like to learn to mod controllers (ie change light color and whatnot as beginner projects).

I should invest in this tool for casework(?):

And, okay, so for LCD/wire work it looks like I need the money for one of these:

Thanks again.
