What did I do to my router? (home networking)

I have a dlink di524 wireless router that's hooked up to my cable modem. My computer and wii in another room weren't getting a signal so I moved the router to that room and had cables now going from the modem to the router and then from the router to my pc.

When I first moved it the network showed up wirelessly but no internet was to be had. I then tried things like renewing the ip, reseting everything, power cycling, and eventually curling up in a ball and crying.

After I dried my eyes somehow it ended up that my pc was getting internet but could not in any way access the router (using the 191.XX.XX.X kind of address) I've tried reseting things again but just can't access the router now to change anything.

The router is physically set up as follows.

In the wan port nothing is plugged in
In 1 the cable to my modem
In 2 the cable to my pc

If I switch anything I lose internet.

shouldn't the modem be plugged in to the wan spot?

is there a chance you're using a static ip address?

Try resetting it on your computer. Or, switching back to dynamic ip?

    I donno, that's all I've really got.

i dunno about your router, but i had the same problem with a netgear router, and it turned out i wasn't following the right switch on order for the wireless network. I had to turn absolutely everything off, then turn the modem on, let it sync, then plug it into the router, switch that on and let that do its diagnostics etc, then finally plug it into the pc and turn it on... it worked for me anyway.

Cable modems get very confused by lots of port swapping in my experience.. maybe just unplugging it (don't just turn it off) for 10 minutes and plugging it back into the wan port might do the trick..that also worked for me one time.
