I've started an etsy account with my girlfriend. We have posted nine things up there so far (mostly vintage stuff we had lying around, and a few things we've made). I was just wondering if anyone else uses etsy, and if they had any advice or tips to selling on there.
My wife used it briefly when listing was free, and I've got a couple thrift-reselling friends who do it. If you're just doing it for fun, then do it for fun. If you're trying to do it as a side business (not that it can't be fun, but it means you're going to acquire new items and post them up regularly), the best way to do it is to get a blog and write about all of your stuff. If you're making things, write about making it. If you're buying things, write about finding things, items that didn't make the cut, and so on.
The blog lets you update and write more than Etsy allows, with links to your store to complete the sale.
Don't be afraid to over-list, but do it in phases -- 2 today, 2 tomorrow, etc. And be up front about shipping, including combined shipping and overseas.
If you're just selling a couple knick-knacks, I'm not sure if Etsy is the best platform. Is there any market on eBay for the things you're selling?
