Weird finger pain

I've noticed over the past couple days that my right ring finger has been acting weird; it's not a sharp pain, but almost more of a tightness throbbing (fairly weak) pain, which I only feel when my fingers are extended (making a fist completely relieves it)

I might go bug the doctors next week about it, but I'm curious if anyone has any idea what might be going on, and googling "finger pain" wasn't being useful

what do you do that might cause the pain? tendenidis is a pretty common condition among rock climbers that causes hands and elbows to ache

My mother had something like that. Turned out it was a form of arthritis.

Hm, that's not so exciting, considering my mom has rheumatoid arthritis at a decently early age

I do lab stuff that could be effecting it, though that finger would be an odd one to notice first I would think... volleyball too, but again, a weird finger (no rock climbing though)

Alright, doctory time ahoy! Thanks =)
