I'm trying to set up E-mail forwarding through cPanel. In the e-mail account config screen I can set up e-mail accounts, assign storage space, etc, but I don't see any real way to forward e-mail to say, a free-mail provider like G-mail.
If you go into cPanel, one of the options at the top of the list in the "Mail" window should be "Email Domain Forwarding". Any changes that you make there will result in the email to one domain being forwarded to another. For example, if your domain is domain.com, any mail sent to bob@domain.com will get forwarded to whatever domain you enter in the box. In this case, domain.com would be forwarded to gmail.com, and thus bob@domain.com would go to bob@gmail.com. The problem with that method is that tom@domain.com will go to tom@gmail.com, which could result in random dudes getting spam destined for your email account.
The other way to do it, if you can find out the MX entries for Gmail, is to edit the MX entries directly. These are how the mail server knows who is handling what mail. You would have to find out the actual DNS names of the Gmail mail server, though. I know that if you are setting up Gmail for Domains, or whatever they call it, they give you the proper ones to send it to, but I'm not sure about the ones for just Gmail. To do this editing, you want to select the last option in the "Mail" list, which should be "Edit Mail Exchanger (MX) Entries", or something similar.

edit: Nevermind, that section is for local forwarding.
