This is the best game you can currently play on your computer gaming machines, so you should all play it. Also sometimes Valve will drop the price to like $10, so no one who enjoys shooting other people and has a computer capable of running the game has an excuse not to own it.
THINGS TO KNOW:
- Sometime fairly soon Valve will begin adding stat modifications which will spawn at random on randomly "dropped" weapons. Think Diablo II, kinda. (Exactly how the actual dropping part work is unclear, but it's a safe bet they won't actually spring into being on the corpses of your enemies because that would suck.) So you might be able to find, say, a rocket launcher that has only 3 rockets per clip but with greater knockback and damage on each, or a medic gun that heals faster but can't overheal. There will also be hats. Some people complained about these things a lot when they were announced! Source: this thread on the (otherwise essentially worthless) official Steam forums.
- Sniper Vs. Spy update is OUT! It looks balls awesome.
- The general TF2 blog often dispenses cool little tidbits of information about how the game works beneath the surface and what they're planning to do with future updates and stuff like that.
- This TF2 wiki is good. The hard numbers on there are generally correct, but the “how to play ___” videos and strategy articles aren't worth bothering with for the most part.
