Amazon is selling this with a $10 gaming credit. I don't know if I should be excited about this game - I'm very skeptical about the non-surgery modes - but I was a big fan of the other Trauma Center games so I figured what the hell.

Unfortunately, Atlus games are notorious for taking their sweet-ass time to get to Australia, and last I checked there's no set release date at the moment.
It will be day 1 for me when it does come out, though.
I'm excited for this. The non-surgery modes sound great to me - though in terms of diagnostics and forensics, I'm a fan of the Phoenix Wright series and that style of gaming. The overall reviews have been positive - mostly 8s, which I think is pretty good considering the kind of game it is.
I also ordered it from Amazon for the $10 credit. This + $20 SMG2 credit = $10 for Sin & Punishment 2. Woohoo!
I started it, but I've only played the first 2 endoscopy missions. Initial impressions are that the gameplay is good, but the story is somehow even more ridiculous and melodramatic than the previous games.

Interest immediately rekindled. Can you give us a report once you reach the melodrama?

It varies from chapter to chapter. Try this on for example:
Tomoe and Maria are at the mall, doing what girls do in their off hours (shopping!), when they run into Hank and Gabe, who are having a heart-to-heart about getting emotionally involved with their patients' lives. Then:
BOOM! A FUCKING SCHOOL BUS CRASHES THROUGH THE WALL AND FLATTENS THE MEN!
Hank, being indestructible (seriously, he's a superhero without a backstory) survives without a scratch, but Gabe is knocked off a balcony and is buried by rubble. Maria has a mission involving responding to the situation!
At the same time, Tomoe jumps under the pecariously-hanging bus and uses her endoscope to investigate the pile of rubble in order to find victims trapped under the debris. Hank, meanwhile, uses his super-strength to keep the bus from falling on them.
How's THAT for melodramatic!?

Awesome!
SOLD.
I don't know how it is that I have a big problem with "body monsters" (GUILT), yet find this so rad.

Man, I just bought Sin and Punishment 2 why are you people doing this to meee
Ugh. Getting my ass kicked by the second diagnostic mission. I can get seven symptoms in the second phase, but no more.
I'm stuck here too.
There's obviously something suspicious about his gut, but damned if I know what it is. The only oddity I see is that the guy has unusually asymmetric man-boobs, but I guess the game doesn't consider that "abnormal".
edit: orrrrr I could have missed something blindingly obvious. Whoops.
I had a bunch of Amazon credit lying around, so I bit the bullet and ordered this last night. I've never played a Trauma game before. It's hard not to give Atlus money normally, but when it doesn't cost me a dime, it's almost impossible.
Amazon can't deliver this to me soon enough. And it's estimated arrival is a week from now. Arrgh. Fortunately, I have plenty in my backlog to play in the mean-time, but I've been wanting this since I first heard about it.

Endoscopy is hard. Might've been easier if the up arrow did the forward movement.

Yay! I got this from Amazon today. Unfortunately, I'm going out of town this weekend, and there are two soccer games on tonight, so I only got the opportunity to do the first endoscopy mission. I understand the complaints about endoscopy and its controls now, but once I get used to it, I'm sure I won't mind so much.
And from what I've seen so far, the game is very polished. You can tell they put a lot of effort into it. Can't wait to play more of it.
Edit - decided to play a diagnostics mission during halftime of the soccer game, and went 15-20 minutes over into the second half. Oops. I can definitely imagine how diagnostics can become a pixel hunt, but admittedly, isn't that sort of the case IRL? Noted that we don't have that kind of experience, though. They do keep the "this is a normal picture, this is the patient picture" function throughout, right?
Still, really enjoying it so far. Can't really say I know of any other game like it.

What did you miss?
I missed
the newly-lowered blood pressure on the diagnostics chart.
If you're still stuck, I'd bet that you missed
an abnormality on the EKG. More specifically:
watch the lower line...once every four beats or so, you'll see a downward dip that shouldn't be there.
And from what I've seen so far, the game is very polished.
Agreed for sure on this point. The presentation has been greatly refined.
I'm really liking this game -- much moreso than I had expected -- but it seems like every type of episode has some serious gameplay flaws.
- Forensics drags on waaaaay too long. Additionally, the game often expects you to combine information that really doesn't fit together, or won't let you combine information that really does. (With that said, it's very good about dropping hints about what information to combine, or whether you've gathered all the clues you need.)
- Diagnostics can be a bit of a "pixel hunt" when it comes to the CT scans / X-rays / MRIs / etc. Forensics does this too, but in diagnostics it's way worse; I have a vague idea what to look for in a crime scene, but I don't have a damn clue what increased ascites uptake would look like on an MRI of someone's liver. (Again, the game does drop plenty of hints to let you know that you've missed something.)
- Orthopedics has loads of waggle actions that only kind of work. Getting high ranks here will be an exercise in frustration.
- Endoscopy's awkward controls have been noted. I'm totally okay with the "shove the remote at the screen to thread the endoscope" stuff, but tool selection and use is still clunky.

Wow, that first Forensics level rivals a Phoenx Wright case. It took forever.
Don't get too interested; so far it hasn't introduced any meaningful gameplay changes. It's mostly a plot device at the moment. Still, my fingers are crossed...

So is everyone progressing through the chapters in a linear order, going from character to character, or is anyone just blitzing through a character and ignoring the rest?
I think you appreciate the operations more by doing it the linear way.
so I'm hearing "second half of game." sounds like people are far enough to ask.
confirm: no bullshit like GUILT?
Here's what I can say for sure...
There IS a supervirus that causes a pandemic. From a plot standpoint, it is effectively equivalent to GUILT. However, so far there have been no alien parasites. The virus hasn't really exhibited sentience, although from what I've seen so far I'm not ruling that out for future operations...

Important question (since I can't view trailers at work) does it have voice acting? New Blood had it and it helped set the mood incredibly.
Yeah it does.

What did you miss?
Well, the endoscope controls are designed to be similar to how a real endoscope operates.
