360 can't see PC; PC can't see 360 (update)

Okay, I need help. I have an xbox 360(completely updated), and a PC with windows media player 11 with media sharing started. I have my xbox 360 connected directly to my pc with a crossover cable and both my 360 and my pc are connected online just fine. When I try to find a computer to stream music from, nothing shows up. Likewise no device shows up in the windows media player 11 sharing box. I have tried re-installing media player. I have made sure windows media connect is not on my pc. Help!

Im having the same problem with my 360. Only difference is my xbox and computer are on a network connected to a linksys router. What exactly do you have to have running on the computer when you want the xbox to link up. Do i need to have media center, the sharing program it said to download, what ever running?

    Try turning off both aps.
Boot up the PC first wait til that's all done, then boot up the 360 second.

I find that the 360 can only find things while it's booting up which is a bit silly.

I just tried to redo the entire process. I think my problem is im blocking ports. I turned off windows firewall but i still have mcafee that came with my laptop running. I cant seen to figure out how to open the ports. Found where to do it at but media center doesnt tell me what to put where. Cant even find an option to just turn the whole damn thing off.

I have an even odder problem. They both see each other but any time I make a playlist (with songs in it), it sees the playlist but never the songs on the playlist. Pissed me off enough to just give up on it and not worry about it.
