This morning I found that, for no reason I can think of, none of my USB ports are working. The ones I'm most concerned about are the 2 onboard ports in the back. Device Manager says they're working just fine, but there is no response at all when I plug in my mp3 player, my camera, or my arcade stick, from my computer or the device (e.g., when I plug my mp3 player into a USB port of any kind, even one it won't work with, it will power on and possibly start charging. When I plug it into my comp nothing happens).
These are older ports I'm dealing with, 1.1 as far as I know. My OS is XP SP2.
I've tried every solution googling has offered. Unplugging the comp for a while, uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers, turning off the "Allow this computer to turn off this device to save power" option, going through the BIOS to make sure nothing was changed. No dice.
Any ideas of how I could fix this, or at least what could have caused it?

Also, I should ad that I did replace my sound card around the time this happened, though I can't see why that would make a difference.

Worst case scenario is that you shorted your USB ports somehow when you replaced your soundcard.
It also seems to have messed with my onboard audio, as well.

granted i'm sure it would cause a whole lot of other problems, not just USB issues

Try safe-mode as well.
but they're listening to every word I say
USB ports weren't working, then I replaced the sound card, they still weren't working, neither is the onboard sound (which I had been using until then without issue). The actual removal of the sound card happened when I wasn't there, but I'm certain the USB ports weren't working before I put the sound card in.
Other than that, it's been running a little slow and once when I turned it on it switched to a dual monitor desktop space (with scrolling), even though I've only got one monitor plugged in. That went away with a restart.
I really hope it's not the motherboard again. I just got this one like 3 or 4 months ago.
