People (probably fairly) mocked me for hoping for a Guild Wars style no monthly fee plan, but for more productive discussion, how much monthly do you suppose they plan on charging? Surely they won't go head to head with WoW and charge $15...right?
Here's hoping this is more than the next Age of Conan.

Hrmph. Sorry to derail things with no brainers for people used to MMOs, this is just the first one to interest me and 15 a month just isn't happening for a single game.

It can save you money depending on your playstyle. A good MMO can take up enough of your playtime that you don't need other games, and spending $15 for a month of MMO is a lot cheaper than $40-50 for a game that lasts two weeks then you need another.
Doesn't help if you're one of those who needs everything on launch day, but I'm the kind that if it wasn't for cheapo Steam sales, would have probably a quarter of the game purchases over the past few years. A good $20 game can keep me busy for 4 months.
Edit: As far as I know there's been nothing official or on record as to how this will cost.

I loled at the video description on GameTrailers. "This cinematic is better than Episodes I-III combined!"
Riccitiello called it "microtransaction-based", but did not explicitly say the game would be free-to-play.
They quickly backtracked from that though. Check the update on that very page:
Update: Statement from EA via ShackNews: "No statements have been made about the Star Wars business model." The rep also claimed Mr. Riccitiello's comments were misunderstood.
For the most part what you see in that trailer is what I think most people wanted to see in the prequels but did not get.
The MMO needless to say won't be as kick ass as that trailer but come on, none of them ever are, that's easy to know. The CGI look and the actual in game design are two very different things, just go look at the screen shots to see that.
I'd love to play this but the whole thing with the possible micro transaction is a game killer for me, I will not support any such MMO one single bit. One only needs to look at how Asian MMO's go with micro transactions to realize what a true money sink that is and we're not talking virtual money but the real deal.
I wonder how "massively" multiplayer the game can be and still be as story-driven as they are claiming. It'll have to be heavily instanced for small groups or suffer serious Ground Hog Day/theme park syndrome.

I assume this is will be the intro to the game too, then. The only really neat thing about it was the part with the ship.
Personally I find myself unable to get excited over some pre-rendered trailer. Doesn't help I greatly prefer the slow fencing/kendo of the original movies over the crazy flipping action of the prequels. It was a nice trailer, but I need gameplay to get excited over something.

Remember the compliments you receive, forget the insults; if you succeed in doing this, tell me how.

Personally, I'm of the opinion that Jedi and Sith NEED to do crazy ninja shit if you want me to believe that they are in any way viable in the face of guns of the future.
The jedi/sith were wearing armour under their robes.
I'd forgotten to mention this. I also really liked that touch. Light armor makes a whole lot more sense given that there's a galactic bloody war going on.
...and I thought of how all those people died, and what a good death that is. That nobody can blame you for it, because everyone else died along with you, and it is the fault of none, save those who did the killing.
Why do people give two shits about a non gameplay video?
It appears to be clear that lucasarts is actually interested in reworking these IP's so they don't horribly suck. That being said I need another MMO like I need my hand chopped off. I really don't have time for MMO's anymore

Man, you're complaining about this here too? $15 dollars really isn't bad. Imagine how long you play a game that costs $60. I guarantee you'll get more time out of an MMO.

It gets them excited of course, look at most of the E3 unveils, how many of them are actually of in game graphics and how many are trailers or all orchestrated in a certain way.

Yeah, but there are plenty of people who only stay in this forum and don't look there.
I'd be amazed if it wasn't $15 a month.
Did this change recently?

*nerd joy*
They said they were considering microtransactions. As far as I know, they still have not announced the business model and/or subscription cost.
Even though it uses music from that trilogy some.
I still probably won't buy the game because I'm off MMOs, but that was the sickest trailer I've seen in a long time.

Did you not play the older KOTOR games?
Online, obviously. ;P

Bioware claims TOR is going to be KOTOR 3, 4, 5, etc etc.
What this means is you're never going to get it. Where MMOs tread, single player continuations die. You need only look upon WoW to know this is true.

Why do people care about books and movies and television shows?
I thought the exact same thing.

It's in the same place that all the cut content from KOTOR2 ended up.
