Looking for a gaming exclusive laptop

Hey gang, I'm looking for a solid gaming PC to do some MMO playing on, but I have another Mac laptop to do everything else on.

Any recommendations on brands or models I should look for? I guess preferably on the reasonably priced side would be a plus as well.

Thanks!

That's good. That's a good one.

Are you 100% sure that you want a laptop and not a desktop? If you just want to do gaming you can save money and improve performance with a desktop. Though, if you do want a laptop, I just got a Lenovo Ideapad Y series, which has served me well (and was relatively inexpensive).

Yeah, give us reasons why it has to be a laptop so we can shoot them down or at least feel sorry for you.

I guess I have no reason for a laptop, I'm just sort of used to them (just graduated from college, am used to moving a lot).

    What sort of desktop?

Well, Dell XPS laptops are pretty powerful. And expensive. You could start there.

Just build a desktop. For the same price as whatever laptop you were going to buy, it will be better in every single way except weight. What's your budget like?

Also what kind of games do you want to play? Playing WoW versus Crysis at a ridiculous resolution can result in very different required specs.

I'll be looking to play MMO's mostly. The Old Republic-esque tech specs.

Budget will probably start around 500-800 bucks. But I could always save more.

A "gaming laptop" is going to be massive, heavy, expensive, expensive, and have a short battery life. What you want is not a "gaming laptop"

The folks in the computer build thread can provide you with a build that will suit your needs, both financial and technical.

How comfortable would you be having to build a computer yourself from scratch?
