Why is no-one mentioning Webber with regards to the Brazil GP? He only won the race! :P Goooo Australia
Almost seemed like that at the race. "Hey awesome! I won! ...Where is everybody?"
Mark drove a stunning and flawless race; better than at the 'Ring, even. I really like the guy and I love seeing him succeed.
So many amazing drives in this race. Webber, Vettel, Button, Hamilton, Raikkonen, Kubica. And Kobayashi probably secured himself a drive for next year despite some rough moments. Awesome, awesome race.
Wasn't really excited about this until last night. I've always been more of an arcade racer and have no plans on getting a wheel anytime soon, but I've always wanted to get into something more realistic. I had GT and GT3 when I was younger but never really got into them.
I really like the no-loading rewind and the braking-only line (implemented much better than Shift's). They really help you to actually learn a track and a car, and they truly do make the game a simulator: you can try something over and over again with no penalty for mistakes, no annoying load times, and no need to complete whole laps over and over again just to get the hang of one turn.
With all the assists off except shifting I can typically whoop the medium AI with any of the demo cars. I have trouble with shifting in video games - I learned IRL on a stick but the "feel" isn't there for me in games. Maybe I'll get there. I feel like hard AI is too difficult in the demo with only two laps on that short track - there's just no time to force them into mistakes and capitalize on them.
I'm no livery artist and I'm not sure yet how much I'll be into the tuning (I'm not really a car nut like it sounds like some of the people here are) but I think I'm sold on this one. Looking forward to the community it sounds like this game has - I haven't really made good use of my Gold membership, but I think the nature of this game will translate well to online play.
Only automatic transmission, everything else off. I played with a controller though, so I shouldn't be really saying anything :P
I loved that you can't floor it with RWD cars, that you can't just slam the brakes before a curve. And the AI is punishingly difficult when set to HARD.
Dammit. You Europeans better craft up a whole shit-ton of choice Storefront goods, 'cause I want there to be something that'll make me happy about people getting this game before me.
(And yeah yeah I know about how Europe usually gets stiffed as far as release dates go, but why did this game - my most highly-anticipated purchase since GTAIV - have to be the exception?)
I'm not going to sit here and get all "why the fuck do the dirty euros get it earlier?" 'cause I know how hard it is for a lot of good titles over the pond. You guys are no strangers to waiting a week or more than we.
But still.... WHY THE FUCK DO THE DIRTY EUROS GET MY PRECIOUS EARLIER THAN ME?
After a poorly judged comment from me about Button yesterday I've been made to look a right goon. awesome drive by Jenson, Kimi got flamethrowered, Hamilton carved through the field, Kobayashi learning a lot from kamikaze... absolutely awesome race.
No comparison to 2008 though, which was probably the most exciting thing I've ever watched.
Yep, good stuff yesterday. I think the first 10 mins was just chaos...it felt like I was watching a action movie with the pit stop drama.

it... it hurts
hurts so bad
Because we give a damn about the best cars and drivers (F1) and don't have a reputation for whooping at cars who turn left for 200 laps.
One thing I just thought of now. Let me see if I have this right.
- All gift cars are now given as a result of hitting a certain level, with these being set so everyone gets Car A at Level 5, Car B and Level 8 and so on.
- All gift cars are regular cars you can buy like any other.
- Gift cars still sell for peanuts.
Assuming all these are right I feel like I'm going to be a little peeved if I save up and buy, say, a Murcielago at Level 25, upgrading and tuning it, just to be gifted one when I hit Level 26. Am I missing a vital piece of information that makes this situation avoidable outside of reading the gift car list ahead of time, which I'd want to avoid.
Edit: Should clarify. By Gift Cars I mean prize cars or reward cars you get for hitting a new level.
I guess that's an option. I expect we'll end up with the usual flood of certain prize cars in the AH, though. What grips me most about the list is (spoiler for people who want the prizes to be a surprise)..
The Veyron is given to you at Level 30. Kinda removes any incentive to save up and buy it yourself.
The shipment did not leave the factory today but the products are ready to go and we will ship them tomorrow. We have enough production capacity to produce all open orders in October.
speed used to air BTCC races a few years ago. It made me so happy when I turned on speed randomly and there was BTCC in it's bumping and grinding glory.

I find that cars (including prize cars) tend to sell a *lot* better if you rank them up. I sold a pretty mundane--and very commonly available --Ferrari that was rewarded to me in Forza 2 for a killing, only because I ranked it up to level 5.
Ranked-up cars only sold well because Forza 2's online economy was all fucked up by the various money glitches. Now that you can sell tunes separately from cars, I don't think they will anymore.
(And a few hours because silly Gamestop won't do a midnight release for it. If they do for Gran Turismo 5 when it launches in the year 2242 I'm gonna... I'm gonna... erm... point at them and say their mommas dress them funny. Or something.)

Are there... means to achieve this?
Yes. Saying more might violate forum rules, however.

Grah it's just like Forza 2. It gets harder and harder to wait.

Ran a lap on the Nordschleiffe with the Enzo. Not as simmy as many people make it out to be, but it's enough for me.
what assists did you have on?

Less time for folks in Euro land, it's launch week for them!
Unless you're living in university accommodation with no X-Box. Damnation.

Unless there's a crash.
Then it's fucking awesome.
Watch BTCC then.. known for it's ridiculous crashes, but they do it on a road course! Top Gear gives us yanks the rundown:

(but you can't get BTCC in the states)

Hopefully we see more creative stuff once the game's out.

This time.
Bastards.
Japan gets it before we do, also, come to think of it.
Maybe they're trying to tell us something.
