Trouble with Internet login memory [SOLVED]

Just a couple days ago, all of a sudden none of my "remember this computer" options have worked on any sites.

I haven't changed any options in firefox (I also noticed this in IE).

When I go to a site, put in my name/password and check remember me, close the browser, then open a new window, I have to re-enter my name.

Any suggestions?

I would start with backing up your bookmarks and reinstalling firefox. If that has no effect, start spyware scans. Ad-Aware, Spybot, CCleaner, HijackThis.

Cookies aren't being saved between sessions. What is the "keep until" box set to in the privacy section of your settings?

Edit: also, is your computer's date/time accurate?

Tools -> Options -> Privacy tab

As Doc suggested, make sure cookies are being accepted and it's set to keep them until they expire.

Also go to the security tab and make sure it's still set to save passwords.

Cookies are kept until they expire.

It remembers my password, just not my login name

I'm going to try re-installing, see if that helps

reinstalled, no success. all settings are exactly like they were a week ago

it's showing the cookies in the list when I open it up, I guess it's just not saving them.

I'd be looking into spyware and virus scans at this point. Also, definitely run CCleaner.

This happened to me once in Firefox, for random sites (mostly windows live stuff), and unfortunately the only fix for me was to forget my old bookmarks/settings and just start on a fresh install of firefox. I've seen a few fixes around the 'net, but none of those worked for me.

Have you tried clearing your cache and getting rid of all of your cookies? Stuff like this shouldn't necessitate a reinstall, since obviously the program overall is working -- it's just not remembering the right stuff. Most likely because it's seeing something in the stuff it's already got to screw it up.

This has happened to me as well, right after updating Firefox. Also happened to my girlfriend on a separate computer, after the update.

    Reinstalling hasn't fixed it.

    Cleared it up.

When I reinstalled the first time, I didn't check the box to delete all my addons and extra info and stuff.

So I reinstalled this time with that box checked so it deleted all that. Seems to have worked
