Right now I hate science, or at least I hate the stupid POS autosample that keeps fucking me over at work.

Motherfucking asshole failed again and now I have to restart an experiment. Nothing like having to stay an extra 2 hours to redo work. YAY!

Someone buy me a new autosampler because my employer is too fucking cheap to provide us with proper equipment. I'll love you long time.

Heh. Is that an automated liquid device type thing? They never work. It can be the newest model, and it won't work. Ever. Everrrrr.

I put in like 20 hours of maintenance and about 500 dollars in parts too, and this fucking thing still isn't right. A new one is like 4 to 5 grand depending on features, so the company line is "make a silk purse from a pig's ear asshole, we have 500 dollar a plate dinners in New York City to get to peon".

The one I have is ancient. Like I was still in highschool when it was purchased. And they wonder why things take so long.

but I bet you're salaried, so why should they care all that much if you have to stay at work till 10:30 to get it right?

    Yep

The best part is the current attitude most corporate assholes have in this shit economy. They're all macho as fuck with the "if you don't like it, the door is over there" because they know you have limited options. I can't wait until the economy opens up a bit and there's more jobs available so I can give them 1 weeks notice to beat a salary offer or I'm out of there.

Good lord I love anthropology and a great deal of the science that goes along with it, that second article was interesting as all hell. If I had more smarts I'd study it full time and go to south Africa for grad studies and such.

Ah man so many TAs and professors I've met have done it and it sounds like a hell of an experience.

We apparently have a rad anthro/archaeology department, but I had no idea until I took all my science gen ed classes in anthro and then a few extras. one of the few times I felt I attended a real university was when some of my senior professors were mentioned in my text books and were in nova specials.

so now i worry that i am wasting my life doing meaningless crap when i could be helping people or something

but i was hanging out in hospitals for three weeks so i think the latter is cured
