The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
its a Western Front mod for Red Orchestra, which if you dont have it, just so happens to be $5 this week
Honestly though if you dont already have RO I'd advise against it. The player base is so small its damn hard to find a server thats not just filled with bots. Plus their Unreal 3 engine based sequal is on the way.
Darkest Hour might be a nice distraction for the week though.
All the maps are either:
-Fighting through a town with every single house enter-able. (and yes, every window is occupied by an enemy rifleman)
-Fighting in dense forest or marshland, sometime with heavy fog. Visibility = 0
-Huge vehicle map that takes 5 times longer than black day july to actually see an enemy.
The models are nice and atmosphere-wise the maps are pretty good, too.
I think the problem that I've seen so far is most of the maps are either wide open and the defenders (i.e. the Germans) have an easy time mowing down the attackers. Or they're densly packed buildings with no real line of sight out the windows making you relatively blind to whats outside.
RO's maps combined lots of opportunities for cover without making everything cramped.
I've been enjoying this lately, the major issues is the community, old school players who are assholes who refuse to help and new players that refuse to RTFM.

I find servers all the time You just have to play at normal times instead of 3AM on a Wednesday. RO is one of my favorite games an I hope the sequel comes out soon. Darkest Hour is pretty well done, andi t's a nice change ot pace to play on different maps as a different allied team. I like the new MG-42 sounds too. Hill 182 or whatever is a really fun map. It's just a giant hill that you have to charge up.
