So I moved from a furnished apartment to an empty one, and I'm finally getting paid "grown-up money", including a nice (for a fresh-out-of-college software engineer, anyway) signing bonus. I'm planning on spending a good chunk of that on a nice TV, and when looking for TVs, I realized "hey, I'm doing all this research and comparison shopping on the screen, I should probably be doing the same for the thing I'll be sitting on at the time."
So, anyway, where do I look for a couch? How do I find one that isn't a piece of shit but still won't cost too much? How do I get it to my house (my car is an old, small Civic, so that might be relatively tricky)? Where do I look, and how do I keep from getting ripped off?
If you are buying several pieces from a furniture store its always worth it to try to negotiate a little. I bought a couch and love seat a year ago and managed to get a free end table and coffee table out of it.

YMMV.
Furniture sales are so pants these days most chains are more than happy to deliver for free.
