So, I have a FireWire card, and I borrowed my school's miniDV camera and it's not being detected. I can't capture any of the footage on the tapes.
I know my card should work, because I borrowed a different camera last year (Hi-8, not miniDV) and it worked perfectly. So is my card only compatible with Hi-8? Do I need to install new drivers?
Maybe the camera itself is just incompatible? It's a JVC GR-D32U.
If I know my shit, DV camcorders are pretty much driver-free, unless it's some kind of crazy-ass HD DV cam...
If it's not detecting... even if it's not detecting that you plugged it in at all, there may be something wrong with the computer/firewire card or camcorder... or cable...

And if that doesn't work, would the camera have come with a CD with software for recognizing said camera?
