I have this issue with youtube downloader. I have a brother that uses it and states that he never has any issues with the program. It downloads the youtube files and converts them over just fine. I on the other hand, am having lots of issues. I have the most recent version of the program which is 2.1.7 I believe. He has the previous version as his is always trying to update and he does not let it.
I can download a youtube video and then when I tell it to convert it to mp3, I choose the best sound and turn the volume all the way up and hit convert, but I get an error. The error directs me to get some codecs...FFDShow. It has a link on it as well. The link it provides no longer works, but it is a link on free-codecs.com I went out to the site and I found a link for FFDShow to download and install on my computer, but this has not resolved the issues I am having. I still get this error that the codecs or parameters are not correct and it refers me too the previous link.
I have been all over their website and I do not find any help there. I looked through the FAQ and nothing about my issues. I did notice that the last udate on youtube downloader is from late in 2008. I went in to the settings of FFDShow and I even add the youtube downloader.exe file to always be used by FFDShow and I still get the same errors.
It does not do this on all youtube links. Some of them work just fine and I get an excellent mp3 out of it. Move it in to Audacity for final editing. Does anyone have any experience with youtube downloader? My brother and I are wits end on this...should I just move on and find something else to use even though it works just fine for others?
