Iran’s opposition leader calls for mass protests
Mousavi wants day of mourning on Thursday for those killed in unrest

Defeated pro-reform candidate Mir Hossein Mousavi urged supporters Wednesday to stage protests or gather in mosques on Thursday to mourn those killed after disputed elections that set off Iran's worst unrest since the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

This is a big deal because the Supreme Leader asked Mousavi to not protest and go through official channels.

There are some stories coming out that the military is protecting protesters from the Basij militia.

Man, I was thinking about this last night

If this leads to a full-scale revolution, a concerted effort to oust the current regime, one which originates with the Iranian people, composed entirely of Iranian citizens and not forced upon them in some bullshit "regime change" by a foreign military (cough cough us cough cough)

Well, the idealist in me wants to think that it could actually work

    It's kind of exciting

I'm just worried that gray and blue wool uniforms in Iran will be extremely uncomfortable in the heat for their civil war, not to mention getting enough muskets in time.

The Clerics will oust Khameni before it gets to full scale revolution. Best case scenario here is a new Supreme Leader and new Presidential elections.

Worst case scenario is neither of those things and the protesters get cut down. But I really think it's gotten too big too fast for that to happen.

It seems like Khameni was expecting that all he had to do was say that the election results were blessed by Allah and everyone would believe him. If he had just waited two more days to say it, I doubt any of this would've happened.
