Garageband question:

Hello, hello!

In short, I'm having a hard time getting some AUs to show up under my instrument generator in Garageband. I went through the process that I found here: http://macidol.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=806&sid=7fd2821e0754b77f20ddda86ebdbf7dd#806

I installed 2 synthesizers, and they aren't showing up under my generator, however, some old drum machines such as EZdrummer and Idrum that I downloaded awhile back are showing up. I don't remember how I got those working, and I can't seem to locate the files on my system.

So, basically, how do I install AU files in Garageband '08?

If they're actually AUs and not VSTs, then there shoudln't be any problem. They should show up as .component files in, usually, ~/Library/Audio/Plug-ins/Components.

If you downloaded them legally, you'll have more luck emailing the company that makes them and asking them why they're not working.

If you downloaded them illegally, then there could be an infinite number of reasons why they're not working, such as simply being a dummy file.
