iPhone Update?

When is the iphone update coming and how do I get it onto my iphone? I havent seen anything on it to tell me how or what to do when it comes.

Also is jailbreaking your iphone a bad thing to do? A buddy of mine did it and it sees ok but I would hate to lose information or the phone if it went bad. Any advice?

    The 3.0 software update is out; you get it the same way you get any iphone software update, plug it into your computer and click on 'update' on the iphone page in itunes

    (though the activation server is getting absolutely hammered; I've been semi-trying for a half hour to get it to work with no success)

    just to be more specific, the 3.0 software update dropped this morning, so that's why the activation server is getting hammered; probably by tonight / tomorrow it'll be fine

    You get Iphone updates by plugging your iphone into your computer and running itunes, the next update is due pretty soon I think but I can't remember when.


    Jailbreaking your phone is awesome I've done it and there's no problems yet, I think it does invalidate the warranty though.

    I'm not that desperate I can't wait a few days to get the update, if it's half as bad as you guys are making it sound I really can't be bothered trying right now.

    It only invalidates the warranty if they know you jailbroke it, which is quite hard for them to do.

    Also, they HAVE jailbroken 3.0 when it was in beta (They way it works is unfixable or something with the current hardware, regardless of software update, as I understand it) they just haven't released the 3.0 jailbreak yet.
