laser hair removal

After watching 40 year old virgin, I don't think I want to deal with waxing- with the amount of hair I have it's going to hurt far more than it does for a woman with leghair, let's just say that.

But my current situation is unacceptable too- I shed hair from my back like a dog, and I'm sick of it, not to mention that it makes me uncomfortable in general. I can deal with (and even like) my chest hair, but when it's out hasselhoffed by the back, you know there's a problem. Another reason I don't want to deal with waxing is the inablity to regularly do it, what with being in college and all. Again, it isn't quite like doing the legs or lips.

Basically, is there any risk involved at all? I haven't gone through with it for the longest time but I think enough's enough and I really don't want to deal with it anymore. I want to take the plunge, but I want to make sure it'll actually do something and not give me cancer.

While we're on the topic, can this be done in the same way down in the nether regions? I'm thinking more along the lines of the back than the front over there too.

Interestingly I just learned my friend had his neck hair lasered off and he loves it. Said the only thing that was painful was the bill for the procedure.

I had what little chest hair i had waxed off about 2 months ago. Not in a clinic, i was at some party with beauty and therapy students, suprisingly it isnt something you have to do very often, right now i cannot see any hair atall. I would only go laser if you were like Sasquatch or some shit.

Oh there'd be enough for it to bleed. I don't think I could sit throught it once, let alone once a year.
I mean it hurts when I pull it.

There was a laser hair removal thread about 2 months ago. The crux of the thread was that there's a reason it's marketed towards women. It doesn't prevent the hair from coming back, it does not have 100% success on a patch of hair, and the more hair involved the more pain involved.

Granted, that thread was about lasering a face, and arguably your hair follicles are probably further spaced on your back. That's still a LOT of hair (again, there's a reason that it's pushed towards women, as they usually just get the hairs on their upper lip zapped) if you're as hairy as you say.

Have you looked at a depilatory cream? you could get magic shave, or a Nair, or a Veet, or whatever, slather it on your back, and then scrape it off with a bladeless razor (comes with Veet, you can also use the edge of a spoon. If you're not flexible, you can get some malt spoons!).

That's probably the cheapest and easiest method.

If you do decide to go this route, TEST IT SOMEWHERE SMALL FIRST.

I didn't and ended up having burning legs from a reaction to Nair.

I always thought products like Nair were supposed to burn? I figured that was just the chemicals doing its thing

Depends on the chemicals involved. It doesn't "burn" the hair off, but some people are sensitive to the chemicals involved.

Veet's good stuff for hair removal in sensitive areas, such as armpits and genital areas, so should be fine on backs as well. But yeah, as Aurin said, test a small area first to a) see how it works and b) make sure you're not allergic or sensitive to something in it!

We're talking 'feels like third degree burn' burning feeling.

It hurt for about a week. :(

While we're speaking of nether regions, is there another way other than Veet or shaving to get rid of the hair on and around your twig and berries?

And is Veet the same as Nair, as in will it burn the same?

Yeah, laser hair removal can be very painful, and very expensive(although the chance of permanent removal goes up every time you go back and get a touch up).
