Somehow, in all the kerfuffle about finally getting copy and paste, Spotlight, and so on, I missed the part where 3.0 apparently re-flashes the Nike+ chip on the 2G iPod Touch into its arcane true form of a general BlueTooth controller.
The Apple marketing copy talks about using stereo BlueTooth headsets to listen to audio. But will it work the other way, with microphones, i.e. phone headsets? With Skype? Perhaps you have some insight to this.
I wasn't thinking the update was quite worth the expenditure before, but if I can get a handsfree mobile Skype device out of it using my existing BT headset, that's easily worth it.
Well, for what it's worth I just tethered my iphone and used a VOIP service to place a call to a phone.
Added 250ms of lag to the call, but still kind of neat to be able to make free voice calls in the US/Canada from a cell phone.
I think we could see lots of remarkable things given the new support for bluetooth with OS 3.0 (both from ipods and iphones), but it remains to be seen how many things actually get built.
I'd settle for a little BT keyboard for starters...
How can I connect multiple bluetooth devices to one laptop simultaniusly? I bought a Motorola bluetooth earpiece with it's bluetooth USB transmitter. Then I bought a bluetooth mouse for bluetooth laptops.
Now, I can use only one at a time. When I am using my earpiece, I can't discover the mouse. I have to disconnect from the earpiece first. Same goes for the mouse. Is this come configuration limitation, a driver limitation or is it a limitation of the bluetooth technology?

Bluetooth should be able to handle 6-7 simultaneous devices per controller, depending on how they internally access it (if your BT controller needs some sort of internal loopback driver, than only six).
So I have no idea whats going on with you.

Let's play Mario Kart or something...
It's possible that the included bluetooth transceiver (the one that came with the earpiece) is only capable of one connection at a time. Bluetooth as a spec can (IIANM) handle seven devices at once, though plenty of devices can only handle one connection at a time. Could be the bundled bluetooth dongle is one such device.
