Decent Week.
New
Atlus RPG, of the much beloved
Shin Megami series, comes out for
Nintendo DS -
Shin Megami Tensei Devil Survivor.
The
HD consoles/pc get
Overlord II, meanwhile the
Wii gets a wii-centric ground up version of the game that looks to be pretty good and use the Wii interface well -
Overlord Dark Legend. Lastly, the
NDS gets a version called
Minions. Could be good, dunno what it is though.
This week the
Wii gets the infamous game "
The Conduit." While hands-on impressions have been great, and the game has supposedly unparalleled customizeability with the controls, which are also said to be truly excellent, it still faces an uphill battle for its "generic" look. Hopefully its gameplay will be as good as its controls and live up to its hype!
Wii also gets a re-release of gamecube
"Resident Evil." Is it waggleized? I have no idea. But its a great game.
Wii is also getting "Dawn of Discovery." It's getting great reviews online, but that's all I know. Worth checking into....
The HD cosnoles get a new Fight Night and a new Dynasty Warriors.
PSP gets some kind of new M
onster Hunter that I know nothing about... and a
new Pangya! I bet the Pangya game is good. Love Pangya.
Lastly,
everyone gets a dose of
Transformers. The NDS gets 2 versions, one for each screen. Go Go Gadget Movie License!

You sure that's not next week?

I'll give transformers a rent...but won't be buying that bad boy unless it's really cheap.

I think the Empires games are just spin offs. You don't need to have the original game to play but it has different gameplay modes instead. I'm not sure, though.
Reminds me of that Dawn of Sorrow case....
... you know the one....

Well the first post said "Week 6/21 - 6/27" and Armed Assault 2 comes out on the 26th in North America. That's probably the game I'm looking forward to the most this week. I'm curious about the new Spore expansion pack, too, but I want to read impressions first. It certainly sounds like it's going to make the space stage a lot more interesting. I like that we'll be able to get out of our ships and walk around planets now.
I ask because gamestop shows the 29th..

Boxed copies come out on the 29th, but the Steam version releases on the 26th.
Edit: It turns out the boxed copies were delayed to the 7th, but the Steam version still appears to be on track for the 26th.
I do not think it is.
Can anyone find a source of info on that to confirm/deny?

Garou Mark of the Wolves came out on XBLA this week
holy crap
that's one of the finest 2D fighters ever!
Can't believe it's release had so little fanfare. People need to know about and buy this thing!

It'd be cooler if it actually had Garou in it.
WHAT.
Does it have online play? How much is it? Is the online any good? Is it 800MS funbucks? Does it have that crappy "smoothing" filter? Can I turn off the crappy "smoothing" filter? Did I leave the gas on? [tiny]No! No, I'm a fucking squirrel![/tiny]
SO MANY QUESTIONS.

I believe you mean this:
Probably because you want to support HVS, though knowing you it was primarily because it will enrage diehard Wii haters! I applaud the effort that looks like is going into Conduit, but I'm really not an FPS man and I'm long past the stage where I buy things to Send a Message to Developers and Publishers. Nowadays I just buy shit that I like.
There's nothing for me this week; I'm bracing for what looks to be a killer lineup on XBLA for the summer (TMNT, Shadow Complex, rumors of Worms Armageddon 2 dropping next week), and I'm still playing through my backlog in the meantime. I made an XBLA Weekly thread where some people are asking about Garou: Mark of the Wolves—it doesn't come out until tomorrow, so vets can give more impressions on how the port is.
Debating whether I will get it at TRU and get Umbrella Chronicles with it for $12 ...
1. Waggle Controls, but only slightly. They are apparently good enough to get the job done, but don't expect RE4 Wii Edition controls here.
2. One Disk. Obvious but a welcome feature none the less.
3. 480p. Definite upgrade here as REmake on the Cube is one of about 5 games that are worth playing on the GCN that didn't have progressive scan (Tales of Symphonia and Beyond Good and Evil are two more off the top of my head.)

Apparently Jeff Gerstman payed a ton of money for a Garou Neo Geo cart.
(Please do not gift. My game bank is already full.)
It usually runs around 400.

If you were going to own one neo cart though this is the one. I still break my dreamcast out from time to time for a couple hours of fighting bliss. I really hope the port is good.
As someone who has played every DW game since DW3, you do not need DW6 to play DW6:Empires. At least you didn't for DW4 and DW5 Empires...
I'm not getting DW6:Empires though. I'm buying Blazblue instead. Plus, I didn't even like DW4 and DW5 Empires that much. They aren't as good as the original.
I ended up paying £185 for my Garou Neo Geo cart. Worth every penny. That and Twinkle Star Sprites are the two Neo Geo Carts worth owning.
Anyway anyone else managed to try the XBLA version? I downloaded the demo and it seems like a solid port, just hampered by them borders and the Xbox pad.

I think it's a bit overrated, myself. As DC fighters go, I was far more impressed by Last Blade 2.
I haven't played the Wii version of Resident Evil, but from all accounts, it's a slightly upgraded version of the Gamecube remake of the game which was one of the best Gamecube games around, a fantastic old school horror game.

I'm not sure how they even came up with the spell system. Hold A+D+ALT to buff your minions? Hold it for a micro second longer to drain half your mana in a weak ass shockwave? It's just stupid. Every spell involves holding ALT and another combo of buttons, each ALT+Combo can be held for a secondary version of the spell, or released earlier for the primary spell. It's just awkward, clunky, and unnecessary. The spell selection in the original was far from perfect, in fact it was a little annoying in itself, but it is 1000 times better than the new way.
Last, but not least, the checkpoints. I had to stop playing the game after doing a very lengthy and annoying quest involving the rescue of the blue minions. About an hour into the quest you are faced with several battles where the odds are stacked highly against you. If you die you have to start the entire quest from the beginning. The worst part is that you can't use any minions for this quest. You get a small amount of blues as you progress through it, but they are completely useless by themselves in combat.
Anyway, I was enjoying the game despite the annoying controls for a while, I especially enjoyed the humor, but the check point system was the last straw. I don't know if I'll even finish it.
Sorry for writing this semi-blogish post, but I needed to vent!
P.S. I just got the Conduit but haven't had a chance to fire it up yet.
