I think Chips screwed up my tongue, but why?

So about a month ago I ate about 1/4th a bag of doritos and the following day and a few days after that a couple places on my tongue felt like they had a constant numbing/sting. Saturday night I ate over a half a bag of sour cream and onion ruffles (I am 6'4 but yeah I probably still don't need that many chips). Same thing happened to me now sunday night going on today.

Has this happened to anyone else. I never had this problem before. Doesn't seem serious enough to go to the dentist or doctor for. It's weird and I'd like it not to happen though if anyone knows anything.

Burned out your tastebuds on the salt maybe?

Seriously, half a bag? Lighten up on the snacks.

It was only 4.5 ounces...not really that much. Also, I don't think it's the salt, I've ate this much before and never had a problem. That's what confuses me the most is that this has never happened before.

The salt could've thrown off your mouth's pH balance and thrush could've start to set in.

    It's called a lie bump.

If you look at your tongue in the mirror you'll probably notice some of those tiny little bumps you usually have on your tongue are either swollen or missing. It's what happens when you eat too much salty/sour food (or chips!) and you end up irritating your tastebuds or scraping some of them off.

They grow back quickly, just make sure to wash your mouth out with mouthwash frequently.

edit: Yeah, it could be thrush as well, all the more reason to give your mouth a good rinse.

I really doubt it's thrush. I get these things all the time after I eat sour patch kids.

But they're so good I can't stop eating them.

I'm guilty of the same occasionally, especially for those big sour gummy strips. Sour blue raspberry is my weakness.

I have a feeling that's what Smurf Jerky would taste like.

You also have to drink a fuck ton if you have lie bumps and are partially dehydrated. HAIRY WHITE TONGUE GO GO.

I knew someone who ate a whole bag of similar chips in one sitting and had a bad reaction. Went to the doctor and was diagnosed with MSG sensitivity.

See: tingling skin, numbness or burning, especially in and around the mouth
