Used N64 game freezes

I bought Space Station Silicon Valley used, and I deleted the saved games it brought.

When I start a new game, I watch the intro and all, but when the sheep declares its love for the dog, and the dog gets run over by the space ship, it freezes even though the music is still running and I can reset using the Reset button.

What can I do to solve this? Should I clean it again?

I posted this on Help/advice but no one has responded to the thread.

    Expansion pak or not?

    I have an official Expansion Pak (the one that came with DK64), yeah.

    Don't tell it's because of that.

    Take out the pak (carefully) and reseat it.

    It isn't boiling hot to the touch, is it?

    No, I've been playing Pilotwings since I couldn't play Silicon Valley. But I think I'd better use the file that has 2% on it. Thank you very much for the response.
