I'm tying to set up a lan party, the profits of which would go to the M.S. society. Only problem is, I've never hosted one before. If anyone here who has experience with running lan parties could offer advice( how to finance it, getting sponsors, locating a venue, registration, games to play, setting it up, finding volunteers, size, etc), I would really appreciate it.
Another thing I'm looking for is volunteers. If you have experience with lan parties and live in the Philadelphia area, I'd love to have your help.
Thanks in advance.

if you can, organize a console lan party. like xboxes. for some reason, more people are willing to bring a gameconsole and a TV rather than their PC and monitor.
also you won't have to worry about network configuratoins of illegal file swapping.
Hmmm, you could try a different approach. Similar to a lot of fundraising I had to do for High School, find a LAN place already existing, and host a large one day event there, with you bringing in extra goodies (Ala Food, Drink, maybe some more games... a Disco Ball!), and have a percentage of the money from that night go straight to the M.S. Society.
I had to do this with resturaunts though, and they would let you do it on the basis of "More people will come." If they want more of an excuse... well it is a Tax WriteOff.
Sorry I couldn't help too much, just wanted to throw in another Idea if it doesn't work. Anything to help . Good luck.
