DS Lite vs DSi [Buy On?]

So my "DS" is getting a little scruffy, it still works fine, but I figure with the current Gamestop promotion of trading in your DS for $50 credit to a DSi I might take advantage of it. Would you recommend buying a DSi or a DS Lite (If you're wondering how would I get the DS Lite, I would buy the DSi and then trade it in for a DS Lite). I figure the people who would best be able to answer this question would be on the G&T board. Don't let me down!

Thanks in advance!

For me, it all came down to the question of whether or not I wanted to play GBA games I already had, and those I had not yet acquired. The answer was a great big YES.

So I myself bought the Lite.

Unless you have a ridiculous amount of GBA games, grab a DSi. Better screens, better buttons, DSiWare, and nintendo has said there will be games that will have extra stuff on the DSi, was well as DSi exclusive games, since it has a faster processor and more ram. And hell, even if you do have a ton of GBA games, grab the DSi, and pick up a GBA Micro for cheap.

DS lites are going for real cheap on ebay, I was seeing some for around $90. You could then trade in your DS for games, and probably still get a better deal. Although you probably do not want used, in that case go with the DSi.

I'm pretty much done with the GBA. When I eventually upgrade, I'll be getting a DSi.

Hmm, that makes sense. I don't really have a collection of GBA games that I want to play, nor want to play any. I guess I'll just trade in my DS for the DSi. Thanks for all the help!

Also, I have a PSP, but I haven't really found any good games for it.

I traded in my DS for the DSi. Don't expect any great DSi games, but the hardware itself is nicer. And what kind of games do you like? I'm sure we could give you recommendations for some good psp games.

Kind of related, but how is the Mario Mini DSi game? Its the first DSi game that I'm remotely interested in buying and I want to know if its worth the points. (Unfortunetly my dumb kids wasted my free points buying crap, stupid 5 year olds, I should have left the wifi off)

Let me tell you about Demon's Souls....
I’ll tell you what happens in Demon’s Souls when you die. You come back as a ghost with your health capped at half. And when you keep on dying, the alignment of the world turns black and the enemies get harder. That’s right, when you fail in this game, it gets harder. Why? Because fuck you is why.

The GBA is definitely the main reason why people would stick with the Lite. Otherwise, if you're upgrading from the original DS Fats, it's totally worth the extra few bucks to grab the DSi, if only for

    a) the fact that some future DS games will be "DSi-enhanced," meaning exclusive features to the DSi
    b) BoxLife (all of the Art Style DSiWare games are great, but this is seriously a killer app)

Hmm, well the last PSP game I enjoyed was Jeanne D'arc and Hot Shots golf (the first one). As for that I can't really remember the last time I played my PSP...

The last two psp games that I played and really liked were Loco Roco 2 and Rock Band: Unplugged. RB:U is a bit expensive at $40 msrp, but Loco Roco 2 is only $20 and easily found. Before that I really enjoyed Chains of Olympus and Crisis Core they are both $20 and easy to find.

There are others you might like such as FFT: War of the Lions and Disagea, but the ones I listed above are some of my favorites.
