The IT Crowd, great non-Darkplace with Darkplace cast show, or GREATEST non-Darkplace with Darkplace cast show

Here's a taste

FIRE! FIRE!

And I know what you are thinking, "Hey, this is rather entertaining I wonder if an American network will steal this and remake it?"

Well YEAH!

showpages_img.jpg
THANKS NBC!

But it failed because Americans apparently are stupid.

Wait, the US version has already aired?

I'd heard it was gonna come out, but it's been cancelled already? Dang.

Also the UK boss is the best character.

That kiss was amazing. Another great moment from season 3 was when Douglas had a fist fight with his girlfriend, destroying the Internet in the process.

That's the best thing about this show. You never know how far they'll go with a joke.

    When's the fourth season coming?

Never really liked The IT Crowd, the humour is almost like a 12 yr old wrote it, ha ha, now I will say something blatantly obvious or draw out a joke longer than required....but fans of Chris O'Dowd should watch FM, short series set in an indie radio station, that shit is funny.

How many times has this not happened? I can think of only Sanford and Son and The Office.

I just want to say that I love both bosses. But Matt Berry's the best. "Her voice awakes a mighty tiger behind my fly!"

Possibly. I felt like shit when I realised two weeks ago that I had missed an episode. I started watching at the end of the fourth series, and I've been enjoying the fifth series. Perhaps this is through ignorance. I may never know.
Until I watch the first four series, that is.

I think the IT crowd does a relatively good job of hiding genuinely funny and accurate geek humor behind a very cookie-cut sitcom premise.

But there's too much cookie-cutter sitcom "jokes" for my liking.

What the hell, I made this thread not but 5 months ago and it was met with an alarming amount of hostility.

I am glad to see it getting a bit more positive buzz.

The show does have a lot of "sitcom" jokes admittedly, but I found that most of them seem to be pretty self aware. Like how they try to push "will they won't they" relationship with Robin and the Irish dude, but when they finally sleep together they just totally drop the storyline by the next episode.

I watch anything with Matt Berry.

Also, this show- Stick around long enough and it pays off. The first few episodes of the second season might be one of the funniest things ever to come out of a laugh track sitcom.

Actually it's not from the people who brought you Garth Merenghi's Dark Place. It's from one of the writers of Father Ted, a mister Graham Lineham.

    showpages_img.jpg

HA HA! They got a handsome guy for Roy. This is like mister square jaw for Lister on the US Red Dwarf pilot. Can't have your loser main character be too homely right?

There are parts of that show that are not and use a laugh track. Like the opening scene from the first episode.

most shows that use a live audience manipulate the laughter heavily, so calling it a laugh track is alright I guess

For those scenes they play it as a video in front of the audience and record the reaction, but mostly it is filmed in front of a real audience.
