After playing it for the first time last night, I can sort of see why. It's pretty primitive, even for a puzzle game. Plus I'm sure there are better, more recent versions available.

I think the sales numbers of The Legend of Zelda gives us some insight on how many more adopters of the wii there are that skipped out on the gamecube. Considering that most people with a gamecube got Zelda 1 free with their preorder of windwaker.

not to mention like 10 versions of puyo pop. I mean seriously I don't have to have it on every console ever.

While I like Puyo Pop I'd rather get the 8 player DS version that sells for $10. Sadly the only thing missing from that version would be Scratch and Grounder...

Man, $20 really seems to go quick on the VC. But when I imagine walking into a yard sale and finding those three games for $7 each, in mint condition . . .

For me, buying games on the VC is like finding them in a working-condition, heat-deformed cartridge with no label.

They have no collector's value whatsoever.

True, but I can play the games on my plasma tv without the weird issues i get when hooking up my nes or snes to it. Thats worth it to me really.

    It's not necessarily about collecting.

Would I like to have a pristine copy of Gunstar Heroes? You bet your ass I would, but if I can play it and enjoy the hell out of it for $8 I'm certainly going to do that.

I buy games to play them, not to display them.

Nevertheless, I collect games that I enjoy playing, not games that someone else assigns value to. And while I do miss the tiny TG16 HUcards and the little black system with one controller port, I prefer having an imperishable digital copy to digging out an old system/cables.

I was just saying, buying a game on the VC is nothing like finding a copy of the same game in mint condition.

That doesn't mean VC games are worthless, just worthless as collector's items. For games I have no interest in collecting, the VC is fantastic.

I like VC games because some old carts are hard to come by, some are hard to come by and are expensive, and some of these games I prefer to just have on my Wii, which is hooked up and being used all the time, where I can just turn it on with the press of a button and load up a game right quick without having to rehook/wire things and insert a cartridge etc.

Especially for games like the Gen or TG16, which I didn't have much access to back in the day. I mean, I can't imagine a better way to have access to Ristar and Gunstar Heroes, and they're inexpensive to boot.

It's a matter of a lot of gaming goodness at extreme convenience at a reasonable price.

Got it mixed up a little, but you get the idea. Most people who had a gamecube have the game on gamecube. So lots of people buying zelda can be related to a new userbase than the gamecube had. That's all I was saying.

It still goes for $35-40 on ebay, so I'm sure there are still a lot of GC owners who don't have the disc.
