I have a Linksys WRT54G2 wireless router. I got it last month and so far everything was fine till about two days ago. I have a laptop hooked up wireless. I then have a desktop, 360, and switch back between a PS2 and another 360 that are all hardwired.
Lately when I have them all running the minute the second 360 goes online I get booted off mine. Also randomly I will get booted off both 360's. If I have the second 360 on of course the PS2 is not hooked up since I switch the CAT5 cable between them. If either 360 acts up I reset the router and modem and all is well.
The only thing I can think of is in the morning the PS2 is hooked up, then in the evening without resetting the cable modem or router I pull the plug on the PS2 and switch it over to the second 360. Could this be my problem? If it is is there anyway I can switch them out without having to reset the cable modem every time?
The 360 on our router never seems to behave either. Before I manually set the ip on my PC it used to boot me off whenever someone turned it on.
My guess is the router is fine and the xboxes are just being petulant little children and stealing an IP from eachother because they can't share nicely.
you have two 360s? yeah, you'll basically be able to only have one online at any given time... i haven't found a solution to this, and i've been searching a while (goodle, and you'll see lots of other people with this issue)... MS never predicted that there might be two consoles in a single house i guess
Ugh how stupid The only thing I can do is when the other one is turned on is to reset the router and modem then re-connect mine and all is fine. If the second is turned of and back on I have to do it again
